2014 Begins…. with BBQs and 3D printing

Hi All,

Welcome to 2014, Only one more year until we get our Hoverboards and JAWS 19 is released in 3D.

Masters BBQ Fundraising

First up tons of members helped man a BBQ fundraiser at Masters Hawthorn East this weekend. Thanks to Lachlan, Stuart, Nemo, John, Jen, Bob, Alec, Lisa, Dave, Rob, Brett, Shane, Ron & Dita.  Mark’s big drinks fridge also helped  greatly by pre-chilling all the drinks.

We raised over $700 for CCHS, a good sum that will help us get a head start on 2014’s financial obligations and helped rescue the marquee from the stormy winds as it tried to make a run for it with six members attached in the afternoon.

We will be doing another one on April 26th (Anzac long weekend), keep your eyes peeled as its a super effective way to help the space.

Bob and Jen man the BBQ, Lachlan arranged the logistics and supply perfectly.

Saturday Raspberry Pi’s and general hacking

We had a busy day on Saturday as a bunch of people jumped in to to start their years with some pi.

3D Printing Night

On Monday Night, 3D printing sessions opened up for the year, we were well attended by many visitors and printers. Some of them brought some professional prints of 40mm scale minitures which I know is near and dear to many people hearts. A certain multinational model company should be shaking in their boots, 3D printing is going to eat them alive.

 Tuesday Night General session

Considering it was the 4th day in a row some of us had been doing hackerspace stuff, it wasn’t a bad turn out.
