Meetings

We have weekly Tuesday evening meetings, weekly Saturday morning meetings, and irregular 3D printing nights.

If you wish to know the meeting location, please contact member andyg (geekscape) or Twitter direct message @geekscape

This arrangement is an interim measure, until we are ready to be completely open to public meetings.

Our Google Calendar shows all of our planned meetings. Meetings will be removed from the calendar if they are canceled. You will also see the next 4 upcoming meetings from the calendar listed on the right side of our page. They’re taken directly from the Google Calendar so should be considered authoritative.

Note: All meetings/sessions are subject to being canceled if the necessary people are unavailable to open up and maintain the space. We do our best to avoid this happening, but sometimes it’s unavoidable.

Many people at the meeting will be on the CCHS IRC channel (#cchs on freenode.net), so if you can’t come (or a meeting isn’t running), you can discuss projects and ideas there.

Tuesday evening sessions

This is a general meeting, with no specific focus. People who are new are encouraged to try and make it to these meetings, as they’re a great way to find out what CCHS is all about. They generally run between 6pm to 10pm every Tuesday.

Possible reasons for attending …

Saturday morning sessions

Not everyone can make it to evening sessions during the week, especially younger people who are coming along with their parents.

The Saturday morning sessions cater for these people, plus those that need to come in more than once a week. They generally run between 9am and 12:30pm every Saturday.

3D Printing sessions

There has been a huge interest within CCHS in 3D printing and other 3D-based activities. Enough that we’ve started a Special interest night for 3D printing and other 3D activities.

At the moment the 3D printing group has just started, so things are likely to change. They generally intend to run on a Monday night between 6pm and 10pm, every two to three weeks (check calendar for details).

Sessions will involve things such as:

  • 3D printers (assembling/repairing/tweaking)
  • 3D tool-chains (design/modification/repair)
  • Object scanning
  • Laser cutting
  • Milling/lathe work

If you have a particular topic or domain area of interest you like covered, please feel free to make suggestions (or even better, volunteer to be the champion) via the email discussion list.

The HackerSpace provides work space (desk / chairs), power, networking and a modest collection of tools, diagnostic equipment and most importantly … smart, motivated people.
